Gaming isn't just play—it's a powerful way to reach hearts for Christ.

This week on the Known Legacy Podcast, the guys welcome Carter Hammond and Brandon Hargest from Soldiers for Faith Ministries. They share the inspiring vision behind Warriors Gaming: creating a welcoming space where kids with autism and other disabilities can connect with peers, build friendships, experience fun through gaming, and most importantly, hear the life-changing Word of God.

As part of Soldiers for Faith—the same ministry partnering with Known Legacy on the Adrenaline Shot Bible study—Warriors Gaming blends high-energy gaming sessions with the gospel to disciple and encourage youth in a way that meets them right where they are. Carter and Brandon open up about the heart behind it all: turning screens into bridges for faith, community, and transformation.

If you're passionate about reaching the next generation—whether as a parent, youth leader, mentor, or church member—this conversation will fire you up with practical ideas and real hope for making an eternal impact. Don't miss how God is using gaming for change!

[00:00:52] Speaker B: And gets this good news out to more and more folks that desperately need to hear what it is to wake up, gear up, and come alive. [00:00:59] Speaker C: Man. It's been a good day already, man, it's so good to see your face. [00:01:03] Speaker B: Well, thank you. [00:01:03] Speaker C: Every time. I like seeing your face. [00:01:06] Speaker B: As you know, we have just around the corner a men's retreat coming up and Bill wants to talk about that and your morning Bible study. [00:01:15] Speaker C: Yeah. So we got a couple great things coming up soon. April 10th through the 12th. We have our next men's retreat coming up. We'll put a link in the bottom for it, but it's a great time for you to connect with other guys, connect with God and really give you a vision for your life of who God's called you to be. Walk through some, some brokenness, man. God has more plans for you than to just exist, but to truly come alive. And that's what this weekend is all about. So Travis will be there, I'll be there. Our bright shining faces, our sons might be there. Our sons might be there. That's another thing. Actually, anybody over 18 is able to be here and we're seeing a greater call. You know, they said that the greatest group of men, the largest group of people coming back to the church are 18 to 24 year old men. And we have a large group of them coming to this, to this conference. We have, we have young and old and it's going to be a great weekend and so get yourself signed up. But if you are a student, we have a student discount just for you. And right now until February. Well, I guess we have discounts all the way through. But. But man, we. Because this won't launch in February. So we're good. So either way, we still have some discounts for you and we have scholarships available. We'd love you to be there. The other thing that we have is if you are not able to make it to our. Our event down here in Texas, we have a weekly Bible study we do with Soldiers for faith, which I'm excited that we have some of those guys on today. [00:02:28] Speaker B: Yes. I'm so excited about the conversation. [00:02:30] Speaker C: Every Thursday we do a study called the adrenaline shot. Adrenaline shot, 6:45 in the morning. I love this because like I said, the last time no one sees you, you're on your phone, you're just kind of hanging out. But it's a great way to connect with the guys, be a part of a study, man, you literally could be getting ready for work, but we want you to have something to hold on to for the rest of the week because God's word is that valuable. And so connect with us. We'll put the link down there. We'd love to have you join our adrenaline shots. [00:02:57] Speaker B: Great way to gear up and get ready for what God has in store for you moving forward. So, gentlemen, without further ado, the much anticipated what everyone waits for. Question of the day. [00:03:07] Speaker C: Question of the day. [00:03:10] Speaker B: And as always, if you do have a question that you want us to process through info known legacy.org you can submit your question of the day and we will give shout outs to anyone who. Who makes it to the final cut. [00:03:21] Speaker C: You never know. [00:03:22] Speaker B: The question of the day is this. Let's say you're stranded on desert island. I love those questions and the scenarios. You're straight on a desert island. You can only have one catalog of one of these two comedians. Which catalog would you want? [00:03:36] Speaker C: Okay, the. [00:03:38] Speaker B: Oh, okay. Three. We'll do three for Kyle in the [00:03:41] Speaker D: corner should be open. [00:03:44] Speaker B: Kyle, you're changing the question. [00:03:46] Speaker C: The question of the day. [00:03:47] Speaker B: Now it's Kyle's question of the day. Well, okay, okay. [00:03:53] Speaker C: For the sake of grace, I'm keeping my answer the same. Either way, you can do anyway. [00:03:57] Speaker D: It has to be a legitimate like multi movie producer or director or actor. [00:04:03] Speaker B: Or actor. So the two that I had. Yes, Kyle can obviously he's the producer. [00:04:08] Speaker C: He can do whatever you do, whatever he wants. [00:04:09] Speaker B: And that's why we put him in the corner. Anyways, Jim Carrey or Will Ferrell. If you can only have one of their catalogs, which would it be? I'm gonna go first. I'm gonna take it. Originally, I was gonna say Will Ferrell because there's some phenomenal. Like, Talladega Nights. Love that movie. Step Brothers. It's my dirty little secret. I don't tell anyone except whoever's listening to the podcast. But I think that movie is brilliant. And for Travis, on so many levels, [00:04:37] Speaker C: if you ain't first or last. [00:04:40] Speaker B: But I'm gonna. I'm gonna change my answer. I'm gonna say Jim Carrey because I think some of the comedy that he was doing with In Living Color was some of the best stuff. [00:04:49] Speaker C: Yes. [00:04:49] Speaker B: You know, and then you have, like, these great serious movies that he's come out with too. Like Truman Show. Are you kidding me? That's phenomenal commentary on culture. [00:04:58] Speaker C: Good afternoon, good evening and good night. [00:05:00] Speaker B: Yeah, all of it. Bruce Almighty. Yeah, all of it. Love it all. So I would definitely do that. And if I'm honest, Ace Ventura, Pet Detective. [00:05:09] Speaker C: Let me tell you something. [00:05:11] Speaker B: Still a great. [00:05:11] Speaker C: I love Jim Carrey. Like, his stuff was good. Again, we'd said, politics aside, whatever, like just funny, funny movies. I love it. In fact, there's a little fun fact for you because Jim Carrey is my guy in Liar Liar. [00:05:22] Speaker B: Yes. [00:05:22] Speaker C: Another great one at the end with, like the airplane, all that kind of stuff. If you look in the background, Jim Carrey is in there as Fire Marshal Bill. No. Yes. I found that out and I was like, that's awesome. So he's in the background going, it's awesome. So anyways, go, go and check that. Dumb and Dumber, one of the best [00:05:39] Speaker B: comedies of all time. [00:05:41] Speaker C: Another fun fact for you. Do you know that when he walked out of the 7 11, those two guys were just standing there and he goes, big Gulps, huh? Well, see you later. They were just extra. They weren't even extras. They were just watching the show and they got like. They were like, you know, that's the line everyone knows. So anyways, fun fact for you. What about you, Kyle? What about you? [00:06:01] Speaker D: I'm going to pick Harold Ramis. [00:06:04] Speaker B: I don't even know who Harold Ramos is. [00:06:06] Speaker D: He's a Ghostbuster. [00:06:08] Speaker C: Ghostbuster. [00:06:09] Speaker B: He did. [00:06:09] Speaker C: He was ego. [00:06:10] Speaker D: He did Vacation. He did Groundhog Day. [00:06:14] Speaker B: Really? [00:06:15] Speaker D: He's the Stripes. [00:06:17] Speaker B: Oh, those are all great movies. [00:06:19] Speaker D: So his. And not only he's screenwriter, director and actor. [00:06:23] Speaker C: And yes. [00:06:24] Speaker D: So to me, he's ultimate because solidworks. Because he does all of it. [00:06:30] Speaker C: So we thought you were gonna say Mel Brooks, but okay, Harold Ramis is pretty good. [00:06:34] Speaker B: I think we can let Kyle out of the corner. [00:06:35] Speaker C: We Can Bill. You know, we need to probably invite our guests on who hopefully are still listening to us. We have Brandon and Carter from Soldiers for Faith. We're so glad to have you guys on today. And we're in four Square today. It's kind of different. It's like. It's a story of a lovely lady. [00:06:55] Speaker B: Dude, honestly, this. This is throwback to three. These things belong together. Three of these things are kind of the same. One of these things is not like the other. I'll stop now. [00:07:06] Speaker C: Yeah, that was pretty good, though. [00:07:08] Speaker B: You know, I try. [00:07:08] Speaker C: Travis has been in the singing mood the last couple of podcasts. I like it. You're kind of very melodious. [00:07:15] Speaker B: Keep going. [00:07:15] Speaker C: So our guys, anyways, we'll move on. It's like, listen, welcome to Idiots on Parade. Melodic Idiots on Parade. So, Brandon, let's start with you, man. What about you? If you had to choose one of those guys, what would it be? [00:07:29] Speaker A: That's a really tough one. I was not prepared to think about every actor out there. So, Kyle, I'm probably going to stick to the original question. And you guys brought up some really good points between both. I think maybe just for the fact of Elf alone. Will Ferrell, just because that's such a classic every Christmas. But Jim Carrey is all. [00:07:50] Speaker C: I forgot about Elf. [00:07:51] Speaker A: Amazing. I. We go to my family and I go to Seaside almost every year for. For summer vacation. And that's where they shot the Truman show, and so. [00:08:01] Speaker B: No way. [00:08:01] Speaker C: I didn't know that. [00:08:02] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. It's. It's beautiful out there, and it is. Yeah, that's. But I'm probably gonna say Will Ferrell just because of Elf alone, but he's got obviously some great movies, too, so. [00:08:12] Speaker C: I did not know that they shot that at Seaside. [00:08:14] Speaker A: You had. [00:08:15] Speaker B: It's movie trivia night. [00:08:17] Speaker C: I love the facts. I love it. I love it. Carter, what about you, sir? What about you? [00:08:23] Speaker E: I think I'm gonna be rebellious like Kyle and not go with either. But honestly, the catalog that came to mind for me was the Mel Gibson catalog talking. [00:08:36] Speaker C: Okay. [00:08:36] Speaker A: Okay. [00:08:36] Speaker E: Great Heart, the Patriot Ransom. I don't know. They just. Those are ones that just. I. I can watch over and over again, and it's like watching it for the first time. [00:08:48] Speaker B: And let's be honest, it absolutely fits your heart because we're talking about, you know, soldiers of Faith and everything, and. And all of those great movies stir the heart of a man to step into the. Awkward. To step into that void. [00:09:00] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:09:00] Speaker B: You know. Yeah. [00:09:01] Speaker C: Freedom. I love you. I always have it's so good, so good, so good. [00:09:10] Speaker B: So many good movies. [00:09:11] Speaker C: We are so glad to have you guys on today. You know, Brandon Carter, share a little bit about Soldiers for Faith and what you guys do and your hearts behind it. So who wants to go first? [00:09:22] Speaker E: Yeah, I'll. I'll tell you what, Brandon. I'll talk through Soldier for Faith. Perfect. [00:09:25] Speaker C: Take it away. [00:09:26] Speaker E: More specifically about warriors gaming. But Soldiers for Faith is a great way for men and women all over the world at this point to have easy access to Bible studies through phone calls. And so I don't know how many studies there are now, Brandon, but it's pretty amazing. Is there, okay, there's 50 plus and there's our weekly Bible studies that happen all throughout the week at various times. So it's very accessible. There's a lot of folks who either don't have access to a great Bible teaching church or maybe they're homebound for medical reasons or even in the hospital or disabled. Fill in the blank. It's just a great way for people who have trouble getting into the Word to easily come together and study God's Word with other people. It's an amazing thing and it's interesting because Kelly McAndrew, who heads up Soldiers for Faith, jokes about what a simple concept it is. And honestly, it. It doesn't matter how simple it is. It's an effective ministry at its core and so been a privilege to be a part of it ever since. Want to say maybe five years ago. [00:10:46] Speaker B: Wow. [00:10:47] Speaker E: And we can go into it later. But was introduced to Soldiers for Faith through Chad Matson of Unspoken, who I was working with at the time. And man, God has changed my life in particular just through being able to lead Bible studies alongside my dad every Friday morning. So it's a great thing. [00:11:07] Speaker B: First off, love that you're leading it with your dad. That's fantastic. Let's say a guy is intrigued by it but is like phone. Walk us through what the process is for a guy who's never been there, never done it, what's the process, how do they get the information? And what would be their first time experience doing one of these phone call Bible studies? [00:11:28] Speaker E: Yeah, really good. Honestly, anybody can go to soldiersforfaith.com and you'd be able to look at the list of studies that it has to offer and you can go online and see. All right, I'm freed up, say on Wednesday evenings. Well, here's a Wednesday night Bible study. Here's the facilitator, the leader and you would just sign up for notifications, you'll get a notification on your phone. Just a simple dial in, and then you punch in your participant code and you're on a Bible study. It's really as easy as that. [00:12:02] Speaker C: No, I love it. In fact, it is that. I love how simple it is. And anybody can be involved. I, you know, it's funny. I. I did 2. 2 this morning. Yes, that I do. I actually do one with Chad, who is, man, he's just solid when it comes to truth. If you're not a fan of Unspoken side Note, go and buy every single one of their albums and follow them and do it and share that with everybody that's a man of God. And, and so we do them. And every time that I get off, I want to text Kelly and be like, thank you for doing this. Like, it's so encouraging. And it's. And it's like, just like you said, there's so many people who cannot get out. There's literally invalids in the hospital that are like, I've got to get on here. And you can hear the nurses. [00:12:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:41] Speaker C: Going by and they've. They've got it on speaker. And so these nurses are hearing God's word as they're working with, with these, with these people. It's amazing. [00:12:48] Speaker B: Fantastic. [00:12:49] Speaker C: Awesome stuff, man. Awesome. I love it. So thank you for that, man. Thank you for sharing that. Brandon, what about you? I mean, you know, as we're talking, I know there's a lot of different elements with Soldiers for Faith. One of them is the Bible studies. Carter was really great, great with sharing that. But there's another element that I really have both you guys on today, and that is a Warriors Gaming. Can you explain a little bit about that, my friend? [00:13:09] Speaker A: Absolutely. So Warriors Gaming is a program through Soldiers for Faith. That's an outreach for kids who are on the spectrum. And one of the things that we were trying to figure out when we were coming up with this program was what do all teenagers like to do? They like to play video games. And so this is a monthly event that we have in Nashville. We've got one in Dallas, Texas. We've got la, we've got Philadelphia, which just started about, I don't know, five, six months ago. And it is a four hour monthly event where kids can come hang out, make new friends, get to play with each other. And then we, we have the Word presented. We have a devotional at lunch. We provide food for the kids, but we share the gospel and we have different speakers come each month. And it's a Great time for kids to be in the Word. And then we wrap it up with a tournament with prizes, which kids love, play some Mario Kart and win some fun things. So it's an amazing. Yeah, it's an amazing time to get to reach out to kids who may not have that opportunity to, to be with each other, to be in a setting like that. Because a lot of times nowadays with screens, it's easier just to stay at home locked in a room, heading an iPad or an Xbox or something. So it's a, it's a great way to, to just show the love of God with everybody. [00:14:27] Speaker B: Dude, that's fantastic. Do you like, what was the genesis for that? Because again, one of the things that we talk about in our podcast all the time is like God has a unique calling for you and it's a blending of your past, your history, your hurts, your scars, as well as the redemptive work of Jesus. And to step into that wisdom, what was the genesis of this warriors game? Because first off, I think you're meeting a need of a culture that desperately needs that. [00:14:49] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. [00:14:50] Speaker B: And for parents and for friendships and for community, all of those things. How did it come about? [00:14:56] Speaker A: Absolutely, yeah. So as far as that process, it was about three, three and a half years ago, I think Carter, if I'm not wrong. But it was one of those situations where Carter, because I kind of came on as a volunteer to start, Carter had reached out to a manager friend of his. He had a 16 year old son, or at the time about to be 16, and was trying to find a way to reach him. He was on the spectrum and he's on the spectrum. And he was saying, how do I find a way to reach him for Jesus, let alone just engage him as a teenager? And they were trying to figure out some ideas and like I said, every kid loves video games, so we'll try this thing out. And this was, like I said a few years ago, and we rented a space out in the local mall that had a place where you had a bunch of Xboxes, PlayStations, PCs, and we decided to just try it out and see if this would work and the rest is history. But Carter, if there's anything you want to share about that. [00:16:02] Speaker E: No, it's. I think it's just been an amazing thing, just starting out as something so that we discovered early on as being so needed and you know, the, the growth, the fact that we're in four cities right now and that it's just every room is filled every single month is Really a testament to God's work, you know, and just like you, Bill and Travis, you know, y' all are ultimately instruments, you know, Brandon and I were instruments for. [00:16:27] Speaker B: Yep. [00:16:28] Speaker E: The work that he does. And so. But it really, it's been amazing to hear feedback from parents especially. And yeah, at the core of Warriors Gaming, we wanted to avail an opportunity for kids who have autism to hear the word of God and be among people. This is a ministry for all kids as well, you know, so it doesn't matter where, what background, what development does not matter, but the feedback from the parents, this is just time after time we hear, oh, my word, I can't believe something like this exists. Because this gentleman that we talked to early on whose son has autism, he looked at all the big ministries. Nobody knew what to do. [00:17:10] Speaker B: Yes. [00:17:10] Speaker E: As far as this demographic, this, this generation of kids who are growing up with, you know, autism and so. But we've seen kids that have been. That have autism, who have been socially awkward or isolated, just completely come out of their shell, almost new people, because they've been consistently coming to Warriors Gaming, being around other people, and above all, just hearing the word of God preached for what it is. So God's been working really powerfully and through it. [00:17:42] Speaker B: So. So walk us through some of the details of that. What's the. The age group? What is there cut off? How does someone, if they're interested in this, find out the information? Like, give us that? Because I know there's two or three families that I know intimately. They're like, this would be. They're Godsend. [00:17:56] Speaker C: Yeah, it'd be amazing, you know? [00:17:58] Speaker A: Yeah. So like Carter said earlier about the Bible studies, soldiersforfaith.com is the best way to find out the information about where the next event is. We do these once a month in all these different cities. And. And yeah, it's at the age range we say about 10 to 18 years old, but we've got kids younger than that. I've got now four kids that had a baby six months ago on my fourth. [00:18:23] Speaker B: Congratulations. Thank you. [00:18:25] Speaker A: Yes. But my three older ones are 10, 8, and 7. And they love coming to these events. They love being a part of it. They love getting to meet new kids and hang out. But really we're open to anybody who wants to be a part of this, anybody who wants to be present and just engage other kids and hear the gospel. [00:18:46] Speaker C: So, yeah, I love it because getting to be a part of it the last couple times, getting to share a few times, it's so neat to see the dynamic. And I'd love you to share a little bit about the impact it makes on the leaders. Like, there's so many guys who are like, the same guys come back and they're like, yes, my son's here, but it's not begrudging. There's times you do things and you're like, I don't want to be. These guys love being there. And so share a little bit about how someone can volunteer and be a part of it as well, and then maybe get their youth group there as well. So share a little bit about that if you could. [00:19:19] Speaker E: As far as the leaders and the volunteers, I think it's the same way, like, when kids figure out what it is, what. What kind of ministry it is, they. The kids want to come back and come back and come back in the same way. The volunteers, whether they're. They come from youth church backgrounds or if they're just, you know, from. From any background for that matter, they see the. They see the work that God's doing specifically in these kids, and they can't help but want to come back. And they love the fact that it. It's not just a. A place where kids play games, that there is something behind it that's much bigger. [00:19:56] Speaker B: Right. [00:19:56] Speaker E: Than all of it. And so they're excited most certainly, about the fact that God's Word is presented every single event, but also that there are Bible studies that take place even outside of the events that happen every single week through Soldiers for Faith. So they know that what takes place at these events that they're volunteering at will lead to greater depth and engagement in God's Word, even in these outside Bible studies, which I'll. I'll say we've got two of them. There's one for kids that are 11 and under and then 12 and up. And so it's just a great way to see true impact with these. With these kids. And so the leaders, they want to be a part of something, something real. And the difference that's being made is just. It's. It's palpable, it's tangible. And the engagement with the kids, they just love. You grow to love these kids that show up each and every month. And so that's kind of how it impacts the volunteers. [00:21:01] Speaker A: One thing, too, that we love about having these mentors each time is that they get to hang out with these kids and build those relationships. A lot of times, like I said earlier, it's easy to be locked in a room and play by yourself on, you know, on these screens but being in a place where you can have someone who cares about you, wants to sit down and get to know you and talk to you, that's something that's really cool to see. And as Carter said, those relationships are built each month at each of these events. But going into the Bible studies that he mentioned, it's really cool because my father in law and I lead the 11 and under study. And he'll come. My father in law will come and help with these events as well. And it's cool to get to see those kids in person, but then be on a Zoom call each week in between those events and get to build those relationships even closer. And especially for, like, my kids are on that study, they get to see these kids each week on Zoom and then in person get to play and hang out. [00:21:59] Speaker C: Yeah. It's so cool. [00:22:01] Speaker B: So, gentlemen, if you're listening, a handful of calls to action, if you will. Number one is this. If you're not currently serving someplace that's making a difference, thinking about getting involved and serving in this as a volunteer. Second, if you're in a town and you're like, we need this in our town, I'd wager to bet they're desperate and ready to have a group of guys that will say, we will make this happen. Give us the resources we need and let's do this in our town. [00:22:26] Speaker C: I love it because it started with reaching those who have autism. But, man, when I go there, it is. What it's done, at least from what I've seen is it's brought together people who might not have ever talked ever. [00:22:38] Speaker B: Correct. [00:22:38] Speaker C: They might not have ever seen. They might have walked by each other even at church. And now this kid's a rock star on this game. And now they've created moments of connection that would have never happened had not they gone to this warriors gaming. And so I love that too, because I know, like you said, it's not. [00:22:54] Speaker B: Not. [00:22:54] Speaker C: It's for. It's geared towards those who have autism. But I've seen a lot of kids just show up in support of maybe that one kid. [00:23:01] Speaker B: Yes. [00:23:02] Speaker C: Who. And so I love it. I love it, man. Anything else that kind of. That jumps out to you guys about the value of this? Because, I mean, as we talk more about it, man, I know that there's people that want to get involved. I know that there's different places, but you said you're in how many cities right now? [00:23:17] Speaker A: We're in four cities right now. But it's, it's continuing to grow. We've been doing this for, I said three years, and we're always looking for different areas to bring this to. [00:23:27] Speaker C: Is. Is there anywhere that specifically, like, we'd like to bring one to this area as a certain place? Anything specific that comes to mind? [00:23:35] Speaker E: Yeah. So, I mean, it's interesting. That's a. That's a great question. I actually want to say two things. One, I'll answer that question, but also unrelated, really, the way forward that God has. He's. He's paved. The way forward is really just giving all that we have to what's right in front of us. You know, that was the case with Nashville at the beginning, then Dallas, which I'll talk about here in a second. You know, and then it's just been interesting how God has really opened the door for, okay, this is where I want you to go next. And so it's almost like we're not actively seeking to find new places, but it's almost like the need is kind of coming to us. And so we're absolutely open to saying wherever God wants to take this, and it's been proven. And so that's what we're prayerful about. And let me just say this about you, Bill, because he hasn't mentioned this yet, but Bill has spoken at our Warriors Gaming events in Dallas. And let me just say, Bill, you are one of the most gifted teachers of the word that I. That I know. And it's just been. We're so honored every time you speak to these kids. And they. They just. There's a real power when you present God's word. And so I want to make sure that that was conveyed on the podcast here. [00:25:00] Speaker C: Undeserved, unmerited favor, I guess. See God. [00:25:05] Speaker E: Yeah, go ahead. [00:25:06] Speaker C: God used Balaam's donkey one time. [00:25:09] Speaker B: He. [00:25:09] Speaker C: I think he can talk through me, too. [00:25:12] Speaker E: Yeah. But I just want to make sure that. And I'm sure your podcast audience knows that already, but just. We've seen it firsthand, Bill, and so thank you so much for the impact that you made. Warriors Gaming. I want to make sure that that was conveyed too. [00:25:24] Speaker C: Well, we love. I mean, I love going only because these kids just. They're. They all kind of walk in a little bit. Timid. [00:25:30] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:25:30] Speaker C: And then they're like. [00:25:31] Speaker B: They come alive. [00:25:32] Speaker C: Yeah. And then they find their. Their, like, PC. And then you're like, they don't want to eat. They don't want to sleep. They're like, I just want to play this game. It's. But. But they're doing it with other kids. [00:25:40] Speaker B: Yes. [00:25:41] Speaker C: And they're like screaming over, hey, wait. They're having conversation. It's beautiful. And then they hear the gospel in a very clear way. I love it. And then they get the large chicken is what we usually get. And it's just amazing. But then also to see all the different volunteers from different walks of life, men who have walked through addiction, that now see the value youth pastors, I mean, it's incredible. You get this melting pot where everyone kind of has a connection of somebody. And so I love that they brought. And that's why I wanted to even bring some awareness to this. So guys, if you're out there, if you feel like I don't have a place, this is your place. And man, this is. If you're like, I want to hit a home run in ministry, this is it. Be a part of this. Because these guys could use help and support as well as you letting your people know. Because I think the bigger problem want to have is, hey, we need to make, you know, part A, part B. Because we just, we had, we don't have enough room for these kids. I mean, now that we could easily do that. So to be a part of that. And so I love, love what this ministry is doing. [00:26:35] Speaker B: Fantastic. Fantastic. [00:26:36] Speaker C: So any other, any final thoughts from you guys? Any. Anything about that you'd love to say to the listeners about Soldiers for Faith or the Warriors Gaming or anything? [00:26:45] Speaker A: Well, I just want to say, you know, thank you for, for letting us get to speak about this because that's. God's put this on our hearts to be able to do this. And we're just so grateful that he has allowed this to happen, that this, this program has happened for the past few years with Warriors Gaming. And like Carter said, we're just going to be going wherever he leads us and we're just thankful that, that he is first and foremost the, the anchor behind this whole thing. [00:27:12] Speaker E: So, so yeah, in addition to that, sorry, I did have one thing. [00:27:16] Speaker C: No, go for it. [00:27:17] Speaker E: All the, all these events are free to families who bring their kids. And so, you know, it's all, it's all on the, you know, the, the generous donations of folks that give the soldier for faith that make these events happening, but happen but completely free to families that want to bring their kids. I thought I'd mention that too. [00:27:38] Speaker C: Love it, dude. [00:27:39] Speaker B: There's times like we have a passion to have guys wake up Europe and come alive and then to see this ministry that's living it daily in creative ways, that's inviting people to come and Hear the good news, guys that are kind of maybe culturally guys and gals that are culturally on the fringe to have a place where they're the rock star. [00:27:56] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:27:58] Speaker B: Beautiful. Thank you guys for doing that, for being faithful and. And by the way, both of you guys have phenomenal. I don't know who your interior designers are, but the background looks fantastic for both of you guys. So keep it up. Keep it up. [00:28:09] Speaker E: Thank you, wives. Thank you, wives. [00:28:11] Speaker C: Again, we say it all the time, but the. I know these two, they definitely married out of their league. I know it wholeheartedly, both of them, highly. So, you know, as we finish up, guys, we have this segment we call Fast 5. There it is. [00:28:24] Speaker B: So dumb. [00:28:26] Speaker C: We'd love to ask you guys some questions if you're. If you're down with it. [00:28:29] Speaker B: Yep. [00:28:30] Speaker C: 2idiots.com is who we really are. And we will go from there. So, Brandon, you know, we'll ask one at a time and we'll ask the question, go from there. But why don't we start. If you could tell people to support a cause or a ministry, what would it be and why? [00:28:42] Speaker B: I. I think I know the answer to this. [00:28:44] Speaker C: I do too, but I think we're gonna give it a shot. [00:28:46] Speaker A: Yeah, I appreciate it. Soldiers for Faith, obviously. [00:28:49] Speaker C: Yes. [00:28:49] Speaker A: If you. If you could check it out. Soldier for faith.faith.com. like Carter said, these events at Warriors Gaming are completely free to all who come and they are completely supported by your donations. So if you are attending one of these events or if you're a part of a Bible study, just know that all these things are completely free to you and it is because of people who want to give. And so that is what I would love to. To just say out there is if you want to go to soldierformation.com that's, that's. That would be my answer. [00:29:20] Speaker C: And we will put the link in the bottom again. We'll do that. We'll do a link for the Bible study for this and specifically for Warriors Gaming. We'll make it super easy for you. Yes. To get to see the. The part that you want to be a part of. [00:29:31] Speaker B: Yes. [00:29:32] Speaker C: Carter, how about you? Anything different about that or you want to share some? [00:29:36] Speaker E: I can't top that answer. Soldierforfaith.com Again, the impact that people who give generously is really, really clear and evident in these lives. So thanks for letting us answer that. [00:29:48] Speaker B: I love it. [00:29:49] Speaker C: I love it. So if you could. If you guys could describe legacy with one word or phrase, what would it be? [00:29:55] Speaker E: I've actually just recently gotten into the 1828 Webster's Dictionary. [00:30:02] Speaker B: Okay. [00:30:02] Speaker E: And if you haven't checked it out, it is. [00:30:05] Speaker B: What a niche. What a niche. I can guarantee no one on this podcast is into it like you are. So, so lead us. [00:30:15] Speaker C: Lead us. [00:30:16] Speaker E: I don't know, man. I'm, I'm into the, the older stuff. I'm, I'm still kind of. I'm like Little House on the Prairie over here. Honestly, that's my speed. But I, I, I, I just looked up legacy on, on, on there. And I'm not going to give the definition per se, but the sentence that goes along with it is my answer. But it says here that good counsel is the best legacy a father can leave to his child. And so I think that certainly ties into what we're talking about with Warriors Gaming. Good counsel and wisdom that we get to give to these kids. That's what defines legacy in my book. And that's what we're about with, with Warriors Gaming. [00:30:59] Speaker B: So. [00:31:00] Speaker C: I love it. I love it, I love it. I love it. [00:31:01] Speaker B: All right, try to beat that. [00:31:03] Speaker C: Yeah, try to beat. Take that, Brandon. [00:31:05] Speaker B: I hope you're pondering produces something. [00:31:08] Speaker C: He was like, I was in. I looked at the 1742 Webster Dictionary. [00:31:15] Speaker A: He beat me. The only thing that really popped into my head hearing the word legacy is family. And I know Carter just mentioned that. And that's something that. I don't know. Being a father to four boys, there's a lot that can come with that. Yes. And I may not do it well every day as far as being a present father, but I strive to, I want to do that. And getting to be a part of these events, getting to see kids from all over, makes me want to do more with my own kids and to leave that lasting legacy and to pour into them. And, you know, here we are getting to share the gospel with these kids who are essentially strangers to us at the beginning. You know, I need to do more with my own kids. I need to do that more on a daily basis with, with my own flesh and blood. And I, and I. That's something that I, I want to strive to do as a father, to leave that, that legacy of, of who God is and what Jesus has done for us. That's something that I want to do better at all. [00:32:18] Speaker B: Right, Good answer. It was a good answer. [00:32:20] Speaker C: I wish, I wish the guys at Soldiers were just more solid. [00:32:23] Speaker B: Right, right. I wish they understood Jesus better, you know? [00:32:25] Speaker C: Yeah. Maybe they can figure that out one day. Well, dear Lord, I pray you. No, I'm Just kidding. All right. Okay. Number three, if you had to change careers, what would it be? [00:32:39] Speaker A: Carter, I'll let you start this one too. [00:32:42] Speaker B: Yeah, that's the sound of a bus rolling over you, by the way. [00:32:47] Speaker E: Oh, man, I, I, yeah, I would have to say, you know, I'm in the music industry right now and managing artists and producers and it's fun working with creatives and. [00:32:59] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:33:00] Speaker E: But man, even just recently, I've just fallen in love with teaching and preaching the Bible and. So nice. I was telling a mentor of mine last night that I get more joy, I think, from doing that than even the things that I do in the music industry. So if I had my choice, I think that that would probably be it. [00:33:22] Speaker C: I feel like Carter just needs to have his own podcast. Just gonna be honest with you, first thing, his voice too. Like, I'm like, oh, yeah, you know, we've had a few guys on here. We had Jim Burns. I'm like, jim, could you just read me every email in my life? Carter, you're up there too. Like, just, you need to read. Dear, dear, dear AI, can I have the Carter Carter Hammond voice to talk to? Lull me to sleep. So, Brandon, what about you, sir? If you had to change careers, what would it be? [00:33:46] Speaker A: Well, so real quick, in my, you know, before all this, I was in the music business as well, but I was on stage. I, I was in a band, a Christian pop group years ago. [00:33:59] Speaker C: What was it called? [00:34:00] Speaker A: It was called Jump five. [00:34:02] Speaker C: No way. [00:34:03] Speaker E: No way. [00:34:04] Speaker C: I didn't know you were on Jump five. [00:34:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Long. No way. [00:34:09] Speaker C: That's crazy. Like pop band. [00:34:11] Speaker A: Pop band. [00:34:12] Speaker C: Did you like. Wow. [00:34:14] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:34:15] Speaker C: I didn't know we had stardom on here. I didn't know we had start them. [00:34:17] Speaker A: Thing is, though, I, I, it's funny because that our music was for kids back in the day because we were kids. I mean, literally, the, I was a [00:34:24] Speaker C: youth pastor, so I remember Jump five Very. [00:34:26] Speaker B: Yes. [00:34:27] Speaker A: Well, that's the funny thing. I'm finding out as, as I'm old, I'm almost 40, which is crazy to me because I still feel like I'm not that. I feel like I'm in my 20s and it's not true, as you can see by the gray in my beard. But yeah, you know, if that ever comes up, you know, my head, I'm thinking, oh, kids know. No, they have no idea who it is. It's, it's guys like you. [00:34:49] Speaker C: Because we put the music in front of people. [00:34:50] Speaker B: Yes. [00:34:52] Speaker C: I didn't know that about you. [00:34:53] Speaker A: Yeah. So that Was. That was my life, you know, for the first, you know, half of life, literally from 12 years old to 20. And so, yeah, it's. It's. It was a. It was a great time of life. Really enjoyed what we got to do. And God definitely protected us back then. [00:35:11] Speaker B: Yes. [00:35:12] Speaker A: How we grew up, because. Yeah, you know, there's a lot of horror stories. We did a lot of stuff with Disney back in the day before they, you know, anyway. But, yeah, the thing is, kind of being outside of the music world for so long, I've been getting back into writing and just producing and doing other things, and if there was ever a career change like that, I would love to kind of do music again, because I've really enjoyed that and still do on the side, kind of in my own little home studio. [00:35:39] Speaker B: So I feel like you guys should start a church. [00:35:41] Speaker C: I know. Yeah. [00:35:43] Speaker B: You know, the preaching and the songs. [00:35:45] Speaker C: Let's go. Exactly. There we go. [00:35:47] Speaker A: There you go. [00:35:49] Speaker C: The next time I see him, if I, like, sheepishly hand him a CD and, like, a pen and, like, would you. Would you just sign this for me really quick? Anyway, so. Wow. So you learned something new about everybody. [00:36:01] Speaker B: I love it. [00:36:01] Speaker C: I love it. And we're only on question three. We're here till, like, next Thursday getting these. [00:36:06] Speaker B: Question four is the most important one, by the way. [00:36:08] Speaker C: This is a big one. [00:36:09] Speaker B: We do a lot of judgment on this question. [00:36:11] Speaker C: Yes, a lot of judgment. So if you had to pick a fruit, what would it be? [00:36:16] Speaker E: Yeah, go ahead, Brandon. [00:36:18] Speaker B: Okay. [00:36:20] Speaker E: Yeah, mine is not necessarily a fruit. I'm not gonna do the Mel Gibson thing all the way, I promise. [00:36:25] Speaker C: Okay. Okay. [00:36:26] Speaker E: It is a. A combination of fruits. There's this Costco frozen smoothie fruit organic fruit bag or whatever. It comes in several. [00:36:37] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. [00:36:39] Speaker E: That's been. That's been my go to. It's really good for like, your, you know, protein shake type thing. And so. But that's. That's my answer. No, not one particular, but. And a lot. An assortment of them. [00:36:53] Speaker A: That's awesome. [00:36:54] Speaker B: It's a good man. He's. He's a good politician. Right. There he is. [00:36:58] Speaker C: That was really good. All of them. All fruits. What about you? [00:37:05] Speaker A: Yes. So mine, I guess I would say strawberries, possibly. Either that or watermelon. I'm between those two fruits. [00:37:11] Speaker C: You could do both. Yeah, because, Brandon, because Carter did 19 of them, so you're okay. [00:37:17] Speaker B: He did all the fruits. [00:37:18] Speaker C: All the fruits. I want all the fruits. I. Watermelon, actually. Watermelon, strawberry together is pretty solid. [00:37:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:25] Speaker C: I'm not gonna lie to you. [00:37:26] Speaker B: Okay, so question about the watermelon. [00:37:27] Speaker C: Okay. [00:37:28] Speaker B: You put salt on it, because I know some people put salt on it. [00:37:32] Speaker C: Okay, so we just caught another 30 minutes. [00:37:35] Speaker A: No, no, real quick. I'm not a salt on watermelon guy, but I have tried it. But we did try. My wife and I tried this the other day. It's been a few years now. Mustard on watermelon. [00:37:46] Speaker C: It's actually really good. [00:37:47] Speaker B: It's really. [00:37:48] Speaker C: It's like Tajim. [00:37:49] Speaker A: It's shocking. I. I'm not doing that on a daily basis. No, to try it once, it was. [00:37:55] Speaker C: It's way better than you think. [00:37:56] Speaker A: Maybe, Maybe. But, yeah, it's a weird thing. We were trying weird food combinations, and that was one of them, but yeah. [00:38:03] Speaker C: Yes. [00:38:03] Speaker B: This is a whole nother podcast. Weird food combinations. [00:38:06] Speaker C: Let's go. Yes, we do. Welcome to part two of the Man. Okay, good. See this? These guys are unorthodox. [00:38:13] Speaker B: Watermelon and mustard. Yeah, that's a. That's a train wreck waiting to happen. [00:38:17] Speaker C: It's actually not that bad, but it's okay. Okay. All right, finally, number five. What do you want to be remembered by for the. From those closest to you? [00:38:27] Speaker E: Yeah. Yeah, that's a good question. I. I want to be known to. For making time for people. And CS Lewis in Mere Christianity talks about how the mark of a humble person is one who just seems like they have. They have time. Like time for you. And so just in light of all the busyness, I mean, we can always put off this and that, but I think that some of the most meaningful moments are when you just make time for people wherever they are in life. And I'd love to be. To make a point of doing that, you know, from now until. Until I die. [00:39:04] Speaker B: So, yeah, let's get this straight. You're a gamer, and you're quoting Webster's dictionary from the 1800s, and you're throwing out CS Lewis quotes. I think you're a pastor, my man. I think you're a pastor. [00:39:16] Speaker C: And my next question was like, so when do you start your church? Carter is in. And how long's the queue commute from Dallas? [00:39:22] Speaker B: Yes. [00:39:22] Speaker D: Yes. [00:39:23] Speaker C: Oh, man. Brandon, what about you? [00:39:25] Speaker A: Yeah, just in the same kind of thread as what Carter said. Just being known as someone who was loyal and. And just a real, true friend to people. That's what I. I've always wanted to try to be that, and I don't know it really. And this goes for all of us here, you know, all of that all these great qualities are not because of us. It's because of God inside of us. And it's what Jesus has done again through us. Because I can speak for Carter and I, we, you know, we've getting to do these amazing things, but it's because of what God has done in our lives. It's not because of what we've done. And, and I just, I. I just grateful that he has had those, those things that he's given us. So. [00:40:10] Speaker C: But yeah, love it. I love it. Man, this has been a great, great podcast. If you want to get involved with Soldiers for Faith, man, we will put the links below like we said. Please check them out. If you have a place you want to support, man, check out Soldiers for Faith because I know that, man, their dollars go to invest in the lives just like known Legacies does. I mean, want to support and celebrate those who do that. Travis, any final thoughts? [00:40:32] Speaker B: Man, this has been fantastic. Thank you gentlemen for being faithful to following God and may he continue to increase your impact, whether it be through music or through a church that you're planting. [00:40:42] Speaker C: Yes, whatever you're doing, as you guys do, you know, Soldiers Church, and there's a worship leader, there's a pastor, we're good to go. Let's make it happen. But guys, thank you so much for being on today. Guys, thank you so much for watching and listening today. Make sure you check out these guys.
