Show Notes

Most men know what it’s like to stand at a fork in the road. One path is comfortable. The other requires faith. Maybe it’s a conversation with your wife, reconnecting with your kids, asking forgiveness, or stepping into something God has been putting on your heart for years.

Brad Fogarty is back on the Known Legacy Podcast. He’s a TV producer, an adoptive dad, and a man who has spent nearly 30 years following God’s lead from one assignment to the next. Bill and Travis talk with Brad about the difference between being comfortable and being persuaded (2 Timothy 1:12). They also cover why “movers get mercy and sitters get silence,” and why it’s never too late to start trusting God fully, even at 54.

Brad explains why God’s will isn’t summed up in your job title (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18), why success is really about how many people would miss you, and how one question flipped his loneliness: “Who have I left lonely?” He also speaks directly to men hiding addiction or secret sin. You are never alone.

If you’ve been waiting on God to tell you something, this episode will help you turn your blinker on and take the next step.

[00:02:13] Speaker B: It is election season, so it is harder and harder to be on any [00:02:16] Speaker C: social media right now. [00:02:17] Speaker A: Oh, goodness. I'm like, forget it. So. So just hang out with us on the other two. We'd love to have you. And so, man, we are so grateful to have you guys on today to help. We want to help you wake up, gear up, and come alive to who God called you to be. [00:02:27] Speaker B: Absolutely. So, you know, in honor of Kyle and the heavy heart that he has, the question of the day. [00:02:35] Speaker A: Question of the day. [00:02:37] Speaker B: Looking back over your life, who was your favorite pet? I know we're not supposed to have favorite kids, but from day to day, I do. [00:02:46] Speaker A: Yep. [00:02:46] Speaker B: But we all have that one pet that we hearken back to and just, like, love that dog. I'm gonna say dog. Cause no one loves a cat. [00:02:54] Speaker A: And cats are from the devil anyway. [00:02:56] Speaker B: Cats tolerated. [00:02:57] Speaker A: That's definitely in the book of second opinions. And so it's there. Read it. [00:03:01] Speaker B: So if you haven't, maybe it's a goldfish. Maybe. Maybe there was a parakeet in your life that, you know, like, dumb and dumber. [00:03:08] Speaker C: Want a cracker? [00:03:10] Speaker A: His head fell off. He was really old. Petey sold my dead bird to a blind kid. [00:03:19] Speaker B: Anyway, sorry. [00:03:20] Speaker A: Wow. Sorry. [00:03:21] Speaker B: So, Bill, how about you? What's your. What's your favorite animal? Looking back in the day, you know, [00:03:25] Speaker A: so I'm going to. I'm going to. I'm going to audible your audible with two. With two. Two pets. So when I was younger, I had a dog named Sammy, and he was awesome. He was like. We got him. In the midst of a very chaotic moment in my life, we got this dog. He shows up when I was, like, 13, 14. I was like, this is awesome. And by the time that he was old enough, he would literally make rounds around the neighborhood. And there was one time my dad brought him in because he wasn't eating for, like, a week. And that they were like, okay, something's wrong with this dog. So we bring him in, and doctor's like, time out. He's overweight. So my father followed him around the neighborhood one time, and he literally would get treats from every neighbor. Someone was feeding him. Like, they get. They actually gave him, like, Vienna sausages every day. So by the time that he made it back home, he wasn't even hungry. So, yeah, he was awesome. Sammy. And then we had gotten one here. Our name. Our dog's name was Toby. And we got him at six weeks old, so. So we had him throughout his whole Life, you know, had to give him, like, the. The insulin shots because he had, you know, diabetes. He had to diabetes. So. But, you know, needless to say, those two dogs are probably my favorite. So what. What about you, man? What about your dog? [00:04:33] Speaker B: I got to tell you, I. So I had a. I had a dog that literally when I was growing up. His name was Peanut. And I. I. I have a feeling that we. We did not do Peanut. Right? [00:04:45] Speaker A: Really? [00:04:46] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, it was three girls, myself in the house. He. It was sur. Fittest, and he. He survived, man. You know, he. He survived until he didn't. And he went to the farm and out in the country to run. [00:04:59] Speaker A: They all go to the farm. [00:04:59] Speaker B: They all go to the farm one day. I would say, honestly, the dog that we have right now, I absolutely love and adore. Although there are tendencies in Maggie that are cat like. Like, she is obsessed with. I think it's terrier or the schnauzerner. Any flash of light, she becomes absolutely obsessed with it, and we'll chase it around the house until she has a heart attack. And. And her love language is touch, and so. And you would think that'd be a cuddle thing. It's not lick. So she will walk by you and lick your ankles as she's walking. [00:05:29] Speaker A: So annoying. [00:05:30] Speaker B: It is, but it's endearing, and she's adorable, and I love her dearly. [00:05:35] Speaker A: These people are salty. [00:05:38] Speaker B: Very, very salty. [00:05:39] Speaker A: She's sizing them up for a good kill. [00:05:42] Speaker B: She's constantly checking our blood and to see, you know, if things go south, who am I gonna eat first? I get it. I get. So that's. That's the. The dog that I love the most right now. [00:05:54] Speaker A: Oh, man. [00:05:55] Speaker B: Why don't you introduce our guest for us? [00:05:57] Speaker A: Yeah. We are so excited to have Brad Fogarty back on today on the podcast. [00:06:02] Speaker B: Good morning, Brad. It's good to have you here. [00:06:06] Speaker A: So glad to have you here, brother. [00:06:07] Speaker C: I just. I just like how you're, like, who's your favorite pet? And speaking of pets, our favorite dog. You bring me on. Thank you. I appreciate that. [00:06:16] Speaker A: Speaking of favorite pets, Brad Fogarty, our favorite pet that we have, his flowing locks. Can you show up on flowing locks, bro? [00:06:24] Speaker C: Do not lick my ankles. [00:06:27] Speaker A: I wish I could lick my ankles. [00:06:29] Speaker B: Nope. No. [00:06:31] Speaker C: Oh, man. [00:06:32] Speaker A: It's been years. [00:06:32] Speaker C: It's been years. [00:06:33] Speaker B: Yes, it has. I. I could do it once, and then I'd be stuck in that position for the next six weeks, and it'd be a. A horrible mess. Horrible mess. So how about you, man? Any favorite pets of yours? [00:06:43] Speaker C: I think we're, we're. Listen, I. We're not pet people and don't judge us for that. [00:06:50] Speaker A: That's okay. [00:06:50] Speaker C: Our lifestyle is like insanely like nomadic, you know? [00:06:55] Speaker A: Yep. [00:06:56] Speaker B: Yep. [00:06:57] Speaker C: In fact we just make our way around the neighborhood getting snacks from every house, but. [00:07:03] Speaker B: Brilliant. [00:07:04] Speaker C: We have a, we have a farm dog. His name is Cooper. And I, I think, I would say he's probably, I don't know, I just love that dog. He's about 130 pounds. He's a great Pyrenees. Looks like a lion. [00:07:21] Speaker A: He's just a cool looking dogs. [00:07:23] Speaker C: Yeah, it's like cool. Yeah. When you're standing there and you're like that's my dog. It's pretty, it's pretty cool. So. [00:07:27] Speaker B: Yep. [00:07:29] Speaker C: We unfortunately don't see him, you know, daily but he, he's, he's known in, in our circles as a, as a, as a bold lion, a good dog. So he, he gets out, he comes back to the farm every night. Even when he goes out exploring. They're, they're very territorial. So it's, it's kind of cool to just have a dog that he like runs his own life. It's pretty neat. [00:07:53] Speaker B: I love it. [00:07:54] Speaker A: That is awesome. [00:07:54] Speaker B: For those of you who don't know Brad, he is the man often behind the scenes, this following the spirit, going wherever he leads. So when he says a nomadic life he is not just saying that for, for giggles. [00:08:06] Speaker A: Yeah. That's not just. [00:08:06] Speaker B: The dude literally is one of these guys that he never is in the spotlight but he's always near that spotlight because he's loving Karen and supporting the spirit as the spirit moves through other people around him and, and it's just amazing. I love that story of just you and, and your faithfulness and the school that you guys found and so just update us real quick. Where what have you been up to, man? [00:08:27] Speaker C: I, I think I'm in another abandoned building trying to figure out, figure out what I'm gonna do in it. But you know, we, we're in Oklahoma City right now shooting the first season of a, a new concept. It's a sitcom and you know, in 2027 you guys will hear about it and, and be able to watch it. We're excited about it. So you know, a family friendly faith forward, not not preachy, not, not a biblical epic by any means. It's a modern day sitcom. It's a 50 something year old pastor who gets let go by his church for the new hot shot preacher and he goes to he's got to pay bills, so he goes back and gets a job at his. The local grocery store that he actually worked at as a teenager. So, and, and so it's just showing how you know the Lord. You know, you could take the pastor out of the pulpit, but you can't take the pastor out of the pastor, you know. [00:09:35] Speaker B: So I'm telling you, man, it's a calling. It's a call. That sounds fantastic. [00:09:39] Speaker C: Yeah, plays really well, man. The cast is phenomenal and a lot of names that you'll know and faces you've seen before. And so we're real excited about it. I'd tell you more, but I can't. Maybe next time I'm on, I'll. I'll bring a clip and show you, you know. [00:09:57] Speaker A: Well, that'd be awesome. [00:09:58] Speaker B: While we got you, I'd like to pitch about two washed up preacher guys who happen to do a podcast on a regular basis wherever they can. They're very mob nomads, you know, nomads, we. We look for plants with beautiful purple flowers behind Bill and you know, beautiful days. And so it's just an idea. [00:10:18] Speaker A: If you want to run with thought, [00:10:19] Speaker B: run with it, run with it. You know, just. [00:10:21] Speaker C: And anyways, yeah, I got ideas. I got ideas. [00:10:24] Speaker A: If you ever need a guy just pushing a cart in the background, I was like, hey, oh, man, you gotta love it. Gotta love it. Oh, well, Brad, we're super glad. We're super excited to have you on. So I do feel like it's always something different, but. But the thing that I love and the reason I wanted to get you back on is I just know so many guys who are at that edge of wanting to take the jump, whether it is engaging the heart of their spouse, whether it is speaking life into their children, seeking forgiveness, whatever it is. There's these moments of uncomfortable that we. That we're given kind of two roads of like, do we jump in or do we not? And man, when I see those roads in your life, when they kind of y off, you seem to not take the comfortable route. And I'd love you to speak into that. You seem to not take it. And I take that as a. I hope you take that as a compliment, but share a little bit about your experience because you've had a lot of things. And so, I mean, you know, from. From adopting a teenage girl after the death of her. Of her mother, I believe, if I can remember that correctly, to man leaving Midland to start something in Georgia to start to buy a school for a dollar or you know, like all the things that you did, just speak into one of them, because I would love to hear that. So share a little bit about some of those, if you could, with our people who are like, what are you talking about, Bill? Like he adopted a kid and bought a school for like, they're all different points. But share some of your story if you could. [00:11:47] Speaker C: Well, listen man, I, I, I'm, there's nothing special about me. I just am stinking hard headed and I'm like, if, if, if, if this thing that I keep real close to me, you know, scripture, if this is real, then I should be able to hang some weight on it. You know, like this, this hook should, should sustain the weight that I'll, that I'd hang on it. And you have, you know, Paul writes, you know, I'm persuaded he uses this word, persuaded. And that always just intrigued me because it's like I, you know, I just don't, I didn't at the time know very many people that were persuaded. I knew a lot of people who were comfortable, I knew a lot of people who were passionate. I knew a lot of people that were, you know, good morally or you know, had integrity. But like, I did, I just didn't see any crazy people. You know what I mean? [00:12:50] Speaker A: Yes, yes. [00:12:51] Speaker C: And, and yet every once in a while I'd run across one that I'm like, dude, that guy's wild. And he, that has to be what persuasion looks like he has, that has to be a person who's persuaded to, to what? To believe fully in what is afforded and available to a child, an heir. I mean, this is, this is what I wanted. And so I was just hard headed enough, very black and white. And, and so when I'm in my mid-20s and I'm fighting this theological, like, what do I believe, this philosophical, like, well, gosh, there's, if you ask five people, you get eight opinions, you know, on things from Scripture or things concerning the Lord. And so I just, I just kind of went in to a place with the Lord and I said, look, I'm, I'm not trying to test you. I think I'm trying to test myself. And so I'm, I'm quitting everything. I'm quitting everything. And either you're going to provide for me or I'm gonna go live with my parents. And I'm, I'm 25, 26 years old at the time. I'm like, and I do not want to live with my parents, you know. [00:14:08] Speaker A: Yeah, I get that. [00:14:10] Speaker C: And and that began a, I mean I, I would call it an avalanche of God's, you know, just abundant flex is what I call. God is always flexing in my life. I'm like, do like whoa, wow. Like everywhere I turn he's just, it's like I see him showing the splendor of who he is. So I know that's not an answer to your question, but that's, that's the, the foundation for any answer I would give is that I, I don't know, man. In my mid-20s, I was like, well he's either real or he's not. I can either trust him fully or, or I have to decide when and when and where he's trustworthy and when and where he's not. And then, and then who is trustworthy? [00:14:57] Speaker B: Me? Well, right. [00:14:58] Speaker C: I was like, well I don't want that, I don't want that option. So yeah, I, like I said, I just was hard headed enough to say, okay, well I'm no longer going to pave my trail. And so, and I'm telling you where mine's going because I now no longer have a job. I've quit everything. And you are now my employer. So. [00:15:19] Speaker B: Right. [00:15:20] Speaker C: Either provide or I'm gonna go home, I'm gonna start driving towards Charlotte, North Carolina, you know, and where my, my mom and dad were. So. And praise the Lord, I love him to death, but I never made it back to Charlotte. So. [00:15:35] Speaker B: God is good like that, isn't he? [00:15:37] Speaker C: And man through a series of things. And so anyway, I, I'm sure you have a more intriguing question to ask, but. [00:15:43] Speaker B: Well, I, I think for, for me the, the big question is like, so how do like 20, man, 20. We have time to burn. You know, we didn't realize that in our 20s, but in our 20s, man, yeah, we had time. Like that was our biggest commodity when we are in our 20s is we can make big mistakes in our 20s. [00:16:02] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:16:03] Speaker B: But now imagine you're a guy, 50 years old, you're driving around in your truck and you're like, you know what? I have played this whole thing very safe. And I'm feeling like God's calling me to this unabandoned adventure of just following and trusting him. What advice would you have for a guy that's kind of in that spot where, you know, the, the time isn't there, but it is, it is now. And God is putting that on their heart. What would you encourage them? What would you say to them? [00:16:29] Speaker C: Well, I mean it's going to sound cliche and forgive Me for going there. But God's no different. God hadn't aged a bit. He. He's outside your timeline. So he meets you the Same way at 55, that'll meet you at 25. And how do I know he's. I'm 54 and he's still been doing it. And, and, and yet I will tell you, I fatigue quicker. [00:16:55] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:16:58] Speaker C: Yeah. I don't bounce back nearly as spry as I once was. But, you know, he gives you the legs to endure. He gives you the breath and the lungs and, and, and the, the beating, your heart, the sparkle in your eye. He does it all. He give it all to you if you ask him for it. And, and if you stay aligned with that. And there, there really isn't. You know, the old adage is true. It's never too late, you know, to do the right thing. It's never too late to, to start over. And, and I can tell you right now, to get to a place where you're persuaded that he's able to keep what you commit to him is a, is a powerful place to live your life because it's, it's not, it's, it's, it's not categorized by you. [00:17:48] Speaker B: Right. [00:17:48] Speaker C: And people can't say, man, that guy. They have to say, man, who does that guy know? What, what, what, what source does that guy have? [00:17:56] Speaker B: And you know, the same source we all have, man. [00:17:59] Speaker C: Yeah, that's right. [00:18:01] Speaker B: Same spirit, same scripture. [00:18:04] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, dude, you'll walk through it. Because I think, I think where guys are so tangible, guys are so tangible, they need almost like road signs on the way. So what are some points of challenge? [00:18:17] Speaker B: Not saying we're going to pay attention to them. [00:18:18] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:18:19] Speaker B: And we probably won't follow them. [00:18:20] Speaker A: There's a cliff back. No, I think what are some road signs that you would say, boom, if you're in that guy, like, and you want. What are some tangibles you went to? I mean, like, even as simple as the word of God. And what did I do? Like, so this moment came, doubt jumps into you and there's a fear, and you almost want to, like, recoil. Because I think what I honestly, I think the statistic and I love statistics, and I know 87% are made up on the spot, but I mean, I think this one truly is not. But they say, like, only 8% of people ever truly pursue the dreams that are in their life. And a dream, seriously, when I'm looking at a dream going, even the idea of, like, I want a healthy family, I want to communicate with my wife, whatever. All those things. These guys just choosing to play it safe. Like, what are some challenges you would give them to go, No, I would say, first do this. Like, do you, like, even here, like, do you really believe God's word is true? Something as tangible as that? What would you say to these guys that are at an impasse, that are like, I'm ready to either begin to play it safe and say, well, it's a good career and I can get 20 more years, and basically I die from the heart up the rest of my life to play it safe, or this. What would you say to them? [00:19:29] Speaker C: Gosh, I mean, in a nutshell, I, I, It's a, it's a launch pad. It's a journey. It's a, you know, faith is formidable. You, you have to discipline it. You have to work. It's a muscle, if you will. And, you know, faith has the innate ability to give you the ability to. I know there's a lot of ability I put in that sentence. Sorry. [00:19:58] Speaker A: I guess a lot of ability was [00:20:00] Speaker C: saying, like, faith literally drives you to reframing everything in your life. It, it's, it's even the concept of renewing your mind. It's like, well, if I'm sitting here at whatever age I am, and I'm going, but what if, but what if? You know, and it's a grimace, look, when I use the two words, what if. Faith would, would give you the raised eyebrow, like, lifted head that says, what if? Like, does that make sense? [00:20:31] Speaker A: Yo? Yeah, absolutely. [00:20:33] Speaker C: But the, the invitation that we have as believers in this gospel story is that Christ became sin on our behalf so that we could become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. So we, we literally have an opportunity to, to lay hold of or be laid held like, or have something lay hold of us that's greater than anything that we could pick up, entertain, or engage in on this planet, and that is the righteousness of God. And to be in right standing with God would, would mean, well, how does my foot stumble outside of me choosing something lesser after I've had the greater? So the more you can practice partaking in the greater, stepping out on something with a raised eyebrow. What if God does come through? Because I can tell you this, when you take a step in faith, I believe this to be true whether it's the right direction or not. He writes your path because your intention is to be with him. So no different if my, if my kid says, I want to go with you, dad, and he starts out the back door, I Say, whoa, whoa, we're going out the front, right? He still ends up in the car with me. Does that make sense, what I'm saying? [00:22:07] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:08] Speaker B: An object in motion stays in motion. It's easier to move and adjust than just a lump of coal sitting on the ground, you know? [00:22:16] Speaker C: Well, and my dad used to always say, like, movers get mercy, sitters get silence. And it's like, there's that. That old verse that. That says your ear will hear a voice behind you saying, walk in this way, whether you turn to the left or the right. Some of us never turn on our blinker to let the Lord even know what we're doing. And we wonder why he hasn't said anything to us. Like, well, I'm waiting on God to tell me something. I was like, bro, I tell people all the time, turn your blinker on. Start. Start turning. And you'll hear a voice going, what are you doing, idiot? Or, no, no, no, no, over here. You know, unfortunately, I hear that. Where are you going, idiot? All the time. [00:22:52] Speaker B: Yes. [00:22:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I hear that too. Yeah, I get you. [00:22:54] Speaker B: But I think, you know, one of the things that's so encouraging is it's not in spite or judgment. It is in love and care and mercy of, like, dude, where are you going? I don't want you to go there. [00:23:03] Speaker C: Go over here. [00:23:04] Speaker B: This is where your gifts are going to make the biggest impact. This is where you're going to find joy and comfort and mercy and grace. It's. It goes back to, like, we. We were talking about in our church. Like, where does Peter's boldness come from? Like, in the first part of Acts where he's getting arrested, he's getting beaten, and he just continues to do this. And I think when we looked at. I think it's because he. He looked in the eyes of grace, of Jesus when he was restored after betraying him three different times. And. And he put it to the test. It's what you talked about earlier. Like, I'm putting this to the test. And Jesus showed up, and Jesus gave him nothing but mercy, grace, forgiveness, and second chances. And it's because he understood that in the depth of his soul, because he did not deserve it, that allowed him to be so. To go and do whatever God was calling him do, even when he did it wrong. Even when Paul had to come back in and say, peter, freaking eat with people who are circumcised and uncircumcised. Stop being a fool about this whole thing. You know? And so I think there's something really to that. [00:24:01] Speaker A: I love that heart of. It does feel like Peter walking on water again. Like, it absolutely made no sense. But I mean, he did this motion of, I'm moving towards you. If I mess this up, I mess this up honoring you. Like, I'm doing everything I can, honoring you the way I can. I just had a conversation with a young guy yesterday when. I mean, young. He was in his 20s, so now that's young. And so he said, he goes, I don't know what to do next. And I was like, well, don't just sit there. I love that you just said that, Brad, because this body moving towards the Lord is going to honor him. Like, hey, here I am. I'm taking the step. If I mess this up, this is on purpose. There's a divine plan in this. I'm at least messing up towards you. And when I mean messing up, I say that with a lot of grace. Like the quotations of, like, I'm moving towards you. This is how I can show you that I'm honoring you. Is that kind of what you're. You're saying, Brad? Is that kind of get in motion, start to make a step? [00:24:55] Speaker C: Yeah. I mean, in line with, with the scripture that says, you know, commit your worst to the Lord and he'll establish your paths. It's like, yes, okay, Lord, here, here's. Here's what I'm going to. To do. But understand this. I don't really want to step unless you kick my foot. I don't want to put my hands on something unless you. Your hands are already there. Like, I'm. I'm committing. And that's what I did in my mid-20s. I was like, I work for you now, so you employ me wherever you want to. And I mean, guys, since. Since my late 20s, I haven't. You know, I. It's been one thing after another, and, and not a revolving door of I can't keep a job. It's been a progression of assignment. And. Yeah, and each assignment has. Has bled into the other and the next. And. And it's like I. I look back and go, man, what did I even go to school for? [00:25:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I get that. Yeah. [00:25:53] Speaker C: You know what I mean? And, yes, because. Because the Almighty has given me assignment. And when that assignment runs its course and it's, It's. It's not coincidental. It's. It's. It's beautiful and divine that the, the next thing births out of that old thing, and, and then that thing becomes old and the new births out of it, and I, I was talking with a friend the other night, just going. And he's, he's been on this run with me. He's much younger than I am. But we were sitting at the table talking, and I said, man, can you believe all the places and the people that we've seen and, and served? And he's like, I just. Would you have ever imagined when we first met that we'd be sitting here, you know, 20 years later? [00:26:50] Speaker B: Wow. [00:26:50] Speaker C: On the assignment that we're on, you know, and he was just smiling. He's like, it blows my mind. And it's like, I think that's what God wants to do. Like, God is perfectly fine. Well, yeah, I mean, God's perfectly fine with you being a banker or you being a, a, you know, a city worker or a social worker or, you know, manager at Walmart or, or a cashier at Walmart. He's perfectly fine with you being those things. The will of God is not summed up in what you're doing. The will of God is summed up in what he's. What he's required of you. Does that make sense, what I'm saying? [00:27:25] Speaker B: Yes. [00:27:25] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah. [00:27:26] Speaker C: If, if there's anybody sitting there today that's going, man, I just, I want to serve the Lord with my life. Doesn't mean you have to quit your job. It might, correct? [00:27:35] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:27:36] Speaker C: Don't think you have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. You may just go, okay, Lord, first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to come to work tomorrow with a different assignment. And it's not just to do this job. It's to rejoice, always pray without ceasing, and in everything, give thanks. Why? This is the will of God. And I promise you this. If you went into Walmart as a cashier, manager, or stock boy, whatever your role is, and that was your demeanor and that was your disposition, you're going to rise to the top, I promise you. [00:28:10] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:28:11] Speaker C: When I say that, I don't mean success in that. Now you own Walmart. I'm saying you're going to rise to the top of that environment and people are going to, I mean, gravitate towards. Dude, I just like being around that guy. [00:28:24] Speaker B: Yep. [00:28:25] Speaker A: Yeah, correct. [00:28:27] Speaker C: Like, because I'm. Listen, nobody wants to sit and listen to your negativity and listen to your, you know, your, your woes and your this and that. And I'm not saying I'm trying to be kind here. I'm not saying there's not a time and A place for you to like, voice your woes and your concerns. But some people make it a lifestyle. They're waiting on the next thing to happen to them. They're waiting on. [00:28:50] Speaker B: Correct. [00:28:51] Speaker C: Oh, you know, well, it's flu season and then it's like, oh, you know what? It's nora virus season. Oh, you know what? It's, you know, it's this. And like, oh my. And, and it's like we, we've lost sight that God wants to indwell us. Like we are the temple, the housing of him. You, you could house the Almighty God and go into your workplace tomorrow. In fact guys, if you're listening right now, you can go back in after work, I mean after lunch and impact your work world with. Rejoice, always pray without ceasing in everything. Give thanks for this is the will of God to those who believe. And that's one verse of many that say, these are the things that are supposed to be adding to my life. Life, you know. Second Peter has a whole list of ingredients. I call that, that passage, chapter one. I think it's down in like verse 10 or so. It's like if these things are yours and are increasing, what are these things? Everything that's listed in that, that first chapter, Second Peter, literally I call that the ingredients for success. And [00:30:02] Speaker B: because it's the foundation stuff. It's the stuff that, yeah, it transcends all of your, whatever your vocation is. It's, it's the stuff that we should all just be inhibiting all the time, you know? [00:30:13] Speaker C: Yes. And, and again, like you, you gotta reframe. You got to reframe. Success is not that what's parked in my driveway or how long my driveway is from the street to my house or how many, you know, car garages do I have? Does that make sense? Like. Yeah, yeah, it's more about if I died today, how many people would miss me. Yeah, because, because I, I charge their atmosphere with the presence of God. And that may sound heretical to some people, but it's like if we're supposed to carry the, the aroma of Christ to those who are perishing, then you better take that assignment pretty serious. What are you doing to mute the aroma of the Almighty? What stench of your own are you bringing to combat with that? When you walk into an environment like I, I want to be, I'm just telling you, like I'm that hard headed guy. I want to be the guy walks into an environment and, and people are glad I'm there. They're like, I don't know, when you're here, I'm just. I. I feel more peaceful, love, when you're here, I feel like I'm protected from chaos. When you're here, it was like, well, then I could say, well, bro, all that is is the presence of God. And I choose to foster and welcome and dwell in the house of the Lord forever, like King David. And if King David could say it, why can't, you know, peasant Fogarty say it? [00:31:40] Speaker A: Yeah. I love it, man. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. I feel like we could talk all day. I love this. You know, I. I remember a couple weeks ago, someone had challenged me. This had been. There's the word halak in the scriptures, and it's only used with Abraham. And it says, Abraham haloched with God, just walked with God. And that became a challenge to me. It's like, I just want to walk with God. I want to take what I know with God and then take it with me wherever I go. And then, like you said, recharging people, I mean, we are the hands and feet of Jesus. We are salt and light in a world that is desperate. We're the only hope in the world, and yet we feel as though if I don't. If I. If I just kind of stay in line and do my part, everything will work out. I'm like, no, like, we're supposed to bring life change to everywhere that we go. You know, it is funny because the. You talked about the aroma of Christ, and the Second Corinthians talks about that with the, with the. That basically we in triumphal triumphant procession go in front that. The Lord goes in front of this triumphant procession, and it's like our life is a vapor. And I'm like, okay, so is it a sweet smelling vapor? Are we just going to be literally a fart in the wind and we have two options? And I love that. And I think, you know, between you, just like I said, between you making the. The various jumps that you've made all the way through, it seems like God continues to open a new door of challenge. And I think that's it. Maybe that's it. I sometimes like, okay, God, I've arrived. I've done this thing. Now I can live on this. It's like, no, the next challenge is going to come up. So I got to keep on halaking with. Got to keep on, keep on walking with God. And man, I love that. And so, man, at the end of this, we have kind of a call to action. If you stand staring at this, at this listener who's here, like, with this, this. Why in the road? What would you say to them right now? What would be your call to action to them today at the end of this podcast? [00:33:32] Speaker C: Well, I would say this, and I'm going to make it personal for a second because I'm. I, I, I. And again, I didn't go to school for this. I didn't climb a ladder. I just walked through a door that the Lord opened, and I find myself. I'm, I'm producing television and television shows. Like, I want to be a preacher. I want to be on staff at a church. I, that's what I want. If I were to, if you said, if you could pick whatever you want to do right now, I'd be like, why, I'd pastor a church and I'd coach in the local high school or something. You know, I love building teams and shaping people. And the Lord's like, well, aren't you doing that in television and film? And I'm like, well, yeah. And he goes, so why are you, why are you gonna pout about it, you know? And, and you stop and go, the Lord doesn't want me to be a preacher. He wants me to know him and wants me to understand that I'm known by Him. And if that's the case, then my whole life is preaching. Does that make sense, what I'm saying? [00:34:35] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah. [00:34:36] Speaker C: Wherever you are, in your, in your truck, your car, your, your office, your, your cubicle, if you're hiding in your closet from your children, your wife watching [00:34:46] Speaker A: this, we see you and we pray for you. [00:34:47] Speaker B: Yes. [00:34:48] Speaker C: Yeah, I've been there, bro. I, I, I, I just encourage you to know he knows you, and he wants you to know that you're known by him and he wants you to know him equally. And, and when that becomes your pursuit, I believe clearly, like, like, deeply believe that it will clearly be made known to you what your next step is. Doesn't mean you have definition as to why. It doesn't even mean you, you know, what, what is after that step. But you'll know that step. [00:35:25] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:35:25] Speaker C: And you'll take it. And, and you, and you, you sit with him and you know him and you're, again, as you, as you were alluding to, you're walking with God. That's what it literally looks like. We can't just invite him in to bless our food at night, our children at bedtime, and, and think that we're walking with Him. Like, rejoice, always pray without ceasing. That means you're in Communion with him all the time. [00:35:52] Speaker B: All the time. [00:35:53] Speaker C: You're. You're. You're murmuring seemingly to yourself, but you're not, because you're not alone. And I. I'll throw this out super quick, just for clarity, for. For the tangible sake of it. It was talking with my daughter last night, and, you know, she was just talking about. And I'm not, I'm not. Kate, I'm not betraying your trust here. She was just talking about, like, how sometimes our life, because we're always on the go. She's like, sometimes it can feel lonely, you know, because you're like, your friends are. Your friends are back over there and we're over here, and then. And then you make some friends here, then we move to the next. Then they're like, now you have every. Your friends are always in your rear view mirror, you know? [00:36:33] Speaker B: Yes. Yes. [00:36:34] Speaker C: And I was talking to her. I said. I said, kate, listen, there's. I was. I was driving home from work last night. I was like, you know, I'm gonna call. And I just stopped. And I was like, man, there's 50 people I should have called months ago that I haven't. I haven't been a good friend. And, And I. So I reframed it to like, instead of feeling alone, I thought, man, who have I left lonely? [00:36:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:58] Speaker C: You know what I'm saying? And so again, just kind of then going. And then I told her, I said, and then I realized very quickly, like, I was not alone in my jeep driving home last night. Like, I. So I just started talking to the Lord and thought, well, before I call anyone that I probably should have called over the last. Last three to four months of my life, I probably should make sure I've sat with you and, and heard anything I'm supposed to maybe say to these people, you know? And anyway, so just. It's just talking with her about just kind of reframing the. When you feel alone, reframe it and, and realize there's too many scriptures that tell you you cannot be alone. And guys, here's the other thing. If you're struggling with addiction or, or, or, or some kind of secret sin, you've also forsaken the same scripture. You're on the same. You just have a different byproduct of forsaking that scripture. Some people feel alone because they forsake I will never leave you or forsake you. And some people are. Are putting on chains of addiction because they think they can hide and you can't. You're never Alone. [00:38:03] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:38:03] Speaker C: And. And so finding those truths in scripture can save you from either end of the spectrum of whatever it is, because scripture brings balance to your life, and I hope that means something to somebody. [00:38:17] Speaker A: Oh, dude. No, this has been great. [00:38:18] Speaker B: Absolutely. And I love. I love the language of reframing it and, you know, reframing it from the one who's receiving to the one that's serving. And that is such a huge posture shift for all of us, myself included. And that has definitely struck a chord with me. [00:38:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:38:31] Speaker B: So I love it. Thank you, bro. [00:38:33] Speaker A: No, this has been good, man. Thank you so much for being on, man. Grateful. We need to have you on again and man, always. Yeah, we'll. [00:38:40] Speaker C: But for now, you guys would have told me how to sat out in the parking lot so that I was [00:38:45] Speaker A: outside too, you know, that have been amazing. We'd love that. So. Oh, man. Well, we are so excited again. We will. I mean, we will. We will definitely have you on again. But I appreciate everything you said, man. I'm grateful to see all that God's doing. And guys, if you're out there, just take the jump. Like, what do you have to lose, really? We're going to stand in front of the father someday, right? We want you to hear well done. We want you to hear well done. And I know Brad wants you to hear well done as well, man. I'm grateful for your ministry all over the place. Your hand is everywhere that I see online, and so it's pretty amazing and grateful for you, brother. [00:39:19] Speaker C: Let me. Let me throw this out to the two of you, man. If anybody reaches out to you guys, that just needs a minute, I. I'll take a minute. You're. You have my permission to pass my contact on to whoever would ask for it, so. [00:39:34] Speaker A: Will do. Will do. [00:39:36] Speaker B: I appreciate that. [00:39:37] Speaker A: Thank you so much for being on today, brother. Appreciate you guys. Thank you so much for listening today. We. We believe in you. We know God wants you to wake up, gear up, and come alive to who God called you to be. Because you have been fearfully and wonderfully made. You've been created a way that you. No one else has been created. So take the leap, take the jump, walk with God, pursue him, get in the truth of God's word. Know that you're valuable and man, respond [00:40:00] Speaker B: to that and understand you have the complete grace of Christ for you right now. [00:40:04] Speaker A: Yeah, it's. [00:40:05] Speaker B: It's complete. Yeah, it's 100%. You are forgiven. So start from there. Always start from there.
